GLACIAR PESQUERA IS AWARE OF THE IMPACT OF ITS OPERATIONS ON THE ENVIRONMENT AND HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTING IMPROVEMENTS TO MEASURE AND REDUCE ITS CARBON FOOTPRINT.
In 2021, it began a scientific research project to calculate and reduce its carbon footprint. The study was conducted by researchers from the Institute of Marine and Coastal Research (IIMyC) UNMdP-CONICET Mar del Plata, Argentina.
The main sources of GHG emissions were identified: fuel use, refrigerant leaks, crew and supplies transportation, and electricity consumption for offices and refrigerated containers. Technological and process improvements were implemented on both vessels, resulting in reduced emissions.
The company is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and making progress on this important issue.
