SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Investing in people to drive change.

Philosophy

We believe that a socially responsible company is one that has the capacity to listen to and consider the interests of various stakeholders in a business (shareholders, employees, suppliers, consumers, community, government, and the environment) and incorporate them into the planning of its activities.

Strategy

With the conviction that the best investment a company can make is to support projects designed by specialists, since 2003, we have established collaboration agreements and alliances with universities, civil society organizations, business entities, and public institutions under the Private Social Investment and Promotion of Social Responsibility framework.

In line with aligning our Sustainability Policy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), our investment is focused on projects that contribute to eradicating poverty (SDG 1), promoting health and well-being (SDG 3), ensuring quality education (SDG 4), fostering job creation and economic growth (SDG 8), promoting responsible production and consumption (SDG 12), measuring carbon footprint and implementing corresponding reduction and offset plans (SDG 13), and promoting scientific research for marine ecosystem conservation (SDG 14). Additionally, from a methodological perspective, our commitment to working in partnership with others, aligning actions among the public sector, civil society, and the private sector, has always been a driving force for sustainable development (SDG 17).

The two pillars of our strategy:

Private social investment

Investing time, talent and material and financial resources in building a future with opportunities for all.

Promotion of social responsibility

With the belief that the best results are achieved through teamwork and collaboration, Glaciar Pesquera has always sought to create synergy with other companies in promoting good business practices, provide training to its employees in social responsibility, and holding meetings to update and discuss successful and unsuccessful experiences in this field.

FortaleceRSE aims to promote sustainability best practices, provide up-to-date information on trends in the field, and develop local knowledge about CSR and sustainable development. In 2017, it merged with another business group with similar criteria and has operated since 2018 as the Chamber of Corporate Social Responsibility Fortalecerse Mar del Plata.

Education and Employment (SDGs #1, # 4 and #8)

Since 2022, with the return to the new post-pandemic normality and increasing unemployment and inflation rates, Glaciar Pesquera has placed more emphasis on projects that aim to increase employment opportunities.

We invest in infrastructure projects for ventures developed in collaboration with the “Yo soy porque nosotros somos” Foundation (2022-2023), aiming to promote self-employment in trades and the development of local SMEs such as mechanic shops, carpentry, blacksmiths, and companies manufacturing concrete blocks and structures.  At the same time, hygiene and safety conditions are assessed to separate living spaces from workspaces.

As a result of these inspections, Sanitary Modules have been installed since 2024 for cases that did not have appropriate water and sanitation facilities.
